THEBREAKAWAY.CC

Product-Tool-Roll-OpenWe have been a fan of what Jon is doing for quite sometime now. Thebreakaway.cc is producing solid products for a fraction of the price that most other companies charge. This is a company that we believe in and can’t wait to see what’s next!

“TheBreakaway.cc is a documentation of the Bristol cycling scene as well as a bespoke luggage and accessory brand. It’s my way of giving back to the scene which has given me so much over the last 18 months in terms of experiences and friendships, by documenting the cities underground cycling events. While it arguably hit it’s peak a couple of years ago, there is still a strong community which includes brand owners, race organisers and fellow photographers. What started as a small tumblr photo blog has now evolved into a fully fledged website, which includes event galleries and a web store selling handmade accessories.

The line of accessories came off the back of me having issues finding a saddle bag that was right for my needs. They’re either too big or too small, quite often the better ones are too expensive, and although the US seems to have plenty of people doing the handmade thing, the UK seems to be lacking. After discussions with friends the consensus was that they felt the same way, so inspired by brands such as BigxTop, Road Runner and Mixed Works, a sewing machine was purchased and prototypes saddle rolls were rattled off and sent to testers for opinions. Once positive feedback was received, a single product was soft-launched to the public with minor promotion.

What started off as one basic product idea has now turned into a small range, and more recently has started to include backpacks and messenger bags, as well as jersey pocket organisers, phone pouches, and hip pouches, which are currently in the design and testing phase with the intention of launching in Summer. The accessories that I produce aren’t going to drastically change your life, but they will hopefully make it that little bit easier.”
